Technical September 7, 2010 Gone Natural I found this book to give more technical information about hair than I would have preferred to keep me terribly interested. I read the entire book and it was helpful for sure. I also liked the fact that I was looking for a book to help me care for my hair in a natural state without relaxers and this book helped me with that effort. I recommend this book, I just suggest that you keep reading when the info seems too techinical, there's still some good stuff in there for the AVERAGE reader.
Great Book! August 31, 2010 m robinson I enjoyed this book. It was very informative about the care for natural hair. I have always been off and on transitioning. I think that was because when my natural hair grew to shoulder length I was unable to care for it, e.g., washing, combing, tangling, etc. -- you get the picture:) Following the suggestions and routines Chicoro gives my hair is manageable and I will never go back to relaxer again!
Good Info August 24, 2010 Andriovich Not much one for reviews, but the info in this book was/is extremely helpful. Especially, about conditioning, moisturizing, protecting and trimming afro-textured hair.
Informative but no Progression photos August 24, 2010 Swahili17 This book was very informative when it came to understanding what keeps afro textured hair from progressing in length and greats tips on breakage. The author gave step by step instructions on how to detangle, how to shampoo and methods of keep hair protected. The book didn't break down the science of the hair just gave a simple manual into caring for the hair. I just wished the author had provided progression photos in how some people have grown their hair long or even the author for that matter on how they achieved thier hair goals following some of the authors guidelines. Overall the book was an easy read and easy to follow. But I am sure there may be more informative books out there to read also, The shipping on this item was VERY Fast..
Very Informative. Product junkie no more! August 19, 2010 Lovelybookworm 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book was very informative. It open my eyes to many things about hair that I didnt previously know. It highlighted the importance of keeping a hair regimen and documenting (through pics, etc) as you go through your hair journey. It helped me with my product junkie trait because it is more about the process (detangling, shampooing, etc) than the products (although they are important but you can use the best product and if the process is all wrong then they wont help much). I have continued to use the tips from this book in my hair care journey. :)
